Description:

The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is a federally funded program designed to help qualifying low-income households pay for a portion of their winter home heating costs. LEAP is available from November 1st - April 30th and may only be used once per heating season. LEAP payments are given directly to the heating fuel vendor or placed on a QUEST card to pay for heating sources, such as:

  • Wood
  • Coal
  • Propane
  • Heat billed on a shared meter

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • Be a permanent legal resident of the United States and Colorado, or have a household member that is a US citizen
  • Pay home heating costs to a heating provider, fuel dealer, or landlord as part of rent
  • Have a maximum household income that falls within the guidelines below

'Household” means people who live with you and for whom you are financially responsible.

Application Process: Applications are accepted November 1st - April 30th. Apply online at coloradopeak.secure.force.com. Visit the website to download a paper application and drop off at the local DHS office, or mail/email to the county to process. Call to request a mailed paper application, apply over the phone, or for more information.
