First Month's Rent & Security Deposit Assistance

Provides first month's rent and/or security deposits for families experiencing homelessness who have secured approval for housing. Applications open on the 1st of each month or the first business day if the 1st falls on a weekend.

Please note that assistance is not guaranteed.

To access this service, clients must:

• Be experiencing homelessness (staying in a shelter, outdoors or in a vehicle) or doubled up (staying with friends or family)
• Be moving into a new lease
• Be approved for move-in and be able to provide documentation showing the move-in date and all move-in costs
• Meet one of the following criteria:
  • Have at least 1 child aged 17 and younger in custody at least 50% of the time
  • Have an adult child aged 18 and older with disabilities
  • Be pregnant (or have a partner who is pregnant) and in the third trimester
  • Have a child or children removed from the home with a reunification plan in place
  • Have a child aged 18-19 who is still in high school
