Applicant must:

  • Be a resident of Douglas County
  • Have a household income below 150% of the Federal Poverty limit.

Burial assistance provided only if the individual is not on one of the qualified assistance programs or if the family has an income less than 150% of the Federal Poverty Limit. Motel assistance is only available to homeless individuals.

Application Process: To apply clients must: - Complete the Application for Emergency Assistance located online at https://www.douglas.co.us/community/financial-assistance/money-for-emergency-assistance-and-basic-living-needs/ - After you complete the application, email it to DHS.inbox@Douglas.co.us along with any supporting documentation. Complete applications with all the needed documentation to support your request will speed up the process. - A staff member will contact you to review your application and request any additional documentation or satisfy any additional requirements.
