Description: Program works with youth, families and communities in La Plata County through assessment, advocacy and programming that supports positive youth development. Service and referral are through the schools, law enforcement and the courts and self referral. LPYS was designated by the 6th Judicial District Attorney as the single point of entry for all youth diversion cases in La Plata County. Services provided: - Youth Assessment - Parent support, consultations and coaching - Individual and family counseling and mediation - Substance abuse education group - Integrated school and community engagement - Summer Program - Useful public service - Mentoring, tutoring and activity supervision - Advocacy Diversion Program: -Youth are referred to the LPYS Diversion Program by the courts, law enforcement, and the school resource officers in lieu of having criminal charges filed against them for felony, misdemeanor, and petty offenses. LPC Collaborative Management Program: LPYS serves as the backbone agency for a client-centered, community-based, collaborative of youth-serving agencies, designed to serve the highest-need youth in the community. Radical Possibilities Mentoring Program: Radical Possibilities believes in the power of mentoring relationships to promote resilience and a sense of belonging in youth. Community-in-Schools Partnership (CISP) Program: Communities-in-Schools Partnership (CISP) Program provides a wrap-around, early intervention and prevention response to the issues facing chronically absent, habitually truant, and at-risk students and their families. Restorative Justice Program: LPYS works with school district personnel to support school-based restorative practices and programs.
