Provides monthly cash assistance to families of at least 1 parent and 1 child. Families may receive assistance while preparing for, looking for, or maintaining employment. Assists low-income families to move from temporary monthly cash assistance into the workplace (no later than 24 months).
Applicants must be families with dependent children or parents of an unborn child that participate in a work-related activity.
Undocumented immigrants are not eligible to receive TANF, but US born children of undocumented immigrants are eligible for TANF if the family meets all other eligibility criteria.
