Description:

Provides monthly cash assistance to families of at least 1 parent and 1 child. Families may receive assistance while preparing for, looking for, or maintaining employment. Assists low-income families to move from temporary monthly cash assistance into the workplace (no later than 24 months).

Undocumented immigrants are not eligible to receive TANF, but US born children of undocumented immigrants are eligible for TANF if the family meets all other eligibility criteria.
