Description:

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) serves to ensure the health of income-eligible pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under 5 years of age by providing:

  • An eWIC debit card to purchase free, healthy foods
  • Personalized nutrition information
  • Referrals to community services
  • Breastfeeding support, including:
    • Breast pumps and supplies
    • Lactation experts and breastfeeding peer counselors
    • Breastfeeding information
    • Support groups
    • Classes

Eligibility:

Individuals must:

  • Live in Colorado
  • Meet income guidelines, as defined below
  • Be 1 of the following:
    • Currently pregnant
    • Breastfeeding a baby less than 12 months old
    • Pregnant within the past 6 months
    • Baby
    • Child under 5 years of age
    • Father, grandparent, foster parent, or guardian of a child under 5 years of age

If a household member is receiving Medicaid, TANF, SNAP or FDPIR (Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations), individuals may be automatically income-eligible for WIC. If no one in the household participates in any of these programs, the household’s gross income (before taxes), must be at or below the amounts listed below. If the household income is slightly above the guidelines, contact a WIC clinic to discuss potential eligibility.

Individuals who are pregnant may count as 2.

Application Process: Visit the following link to schedule an appointment with the nearest clinic: coloradowic.gov/find-wic-clinic. Clients may also visit the following link to submit an online referral form: healthinformatics.dphe.state.co.us/WICSignUp. A WIC staff member will contact the client within 10 days to see if they qualify and help set up an appointment.
